GOLF TOURNAMENT
The time for the Spartanburg Civitan Annual Golf Tournament is just around the corner. The tournament will be on Tuesday, May 16. For the tournament to be a success, volunteers are needed to work the par three holes, hole sponsors and gifts are also needed. Members should play if they can.
CIVITAN OF THE WEEK
This Civitan is a native of Columbia and has retired as the Telecommunications Manager for Spartan Mills. He resides with his wife, Belle, at 154 Bellwood Lane. They are the parents of Eddie and John. The Business Administration graduate of the University of South Carolina is a United States Army veteran of World War II, having served in Europe from 1943-1946. He is a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg where is has served as a Sunday School teacher, deacon and elder. The Civitan-of-the-Week is Edwin M. (Ed) Griffin.

ELECTION NEXT WEEK
The election of officers and directors for the 2000-2001 Civitan year will take place at the meeting next week. The nominees are: Fred Lockman, President; Greg Whisnant, President-Elect; Sherry Hoffman, Vice-President; Joe Gallman, Secretary; Keith Parris, Treasurer; and Directors; Bill Brown, Scott Brown, Frank Gooch, Vickie Lanford, Bill Mauterer, Jim Reeves, John Rickert and Jim Seeley. Six of the eight nominees for Director will be elected.
USHERING
Members please note that there several ushering opportunities this month. Everyone that can possibly usher for any of these events should contact Greg Whisnant or Bill Brown. If everyone does his fair share, the burden is not too heavy on anyone. Please do what you can.
