A THOUGHT TO CARRY WITH YOU:
There is a destiny that makes us brothers (Civitans). No one goes his or her way alone; all that we send into the lives of others - comes back into our own.
Edwin Markham
CIVITAN OF THE WEEK: TOMMY S. ACKER
Our Civitan of the Week is self-employed with Acker's Rare Coins. Tommy was born in Fair Play, SC and is the father of Brent and grandfather of Brendan. Tommy attended Pembroke State University where he earned a BS Degree in Business Administration. When he's not collecting, trading, buying and selling rare coins and paper money, Tommy enjoys canoeing and camping. He is a member of the American Numismatic Association, the Blue Ridge Numismatic Association and the Florida Numismatic Association. Although Tommy is currently the busy 'parent' of a Chocolate Labrador he raised and showed Dalmatians for 30 years. Dr. John Mitchner, of Milliken, had a very positive influence on Tommy's life. Dr. Mitchner encouraged Tommy to go back to college and finish his education.
