CIVITAN BUILDER Vol. 55, No. 6, November 8, 2002
THE CIVITAN CLUB OF SPARTANBURG WELCOMES:
Today we are pleased to honor the Veterans of our Club. John Rickert and Phyllis McBride will share in highlighting the service careers of our members.
GREETING US TODAY: Ed Griffin and Sandy Sanders
OCCASIONS TO CELEBRATE!
There are no member anniversaries or birthdays this week.
November 1 Program: Dr. Robert Ringel was here to share with us the symptoms, early warning signs, and treatment of strokes. Dr. Ringel stressed that when stroke symptoms are present, it is imperative to get to the Emergency Room as quickly as possible. Intervention medications are most effective within the first 3 hours of a stroke. South Carolina has the highest incident rate for strokes and Spartanburg County is ranked 2nd in the State for reported incidences of stroke.
GREETERS FOR November 15: Corey Carson and Connie Melton
THANK YOU FOR VISITING AND WE HOPE TO SEE YOU AGAIN SOON:
Carol August, Friend and Guest of Phyllis McBride
Louis Allen, Friend and Guest of Sherry Hoffmann
SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT:
Feelings of worth can flourish only in an atmosphere where individual differences are appreciated, mistakes are tolerated, communication is open, and rules are flexible--the kind of atmosphere that is found in a nurturing family.

WE HONOR OUR CIVITAN OF THE WEEK: Scott Brown
Our Civitan of the Week is employed with Bomar Printing. Scott is married to Dana and they are the busy parents of a daughter, Morgan, and a son, Kellen. Scott and his family reside in Simpsonville. When not chasing his teens around, Scott enjoys watching sports, cooking, and going on camping trips. Scott currently serves as our Vice President and is responsible for keeping the Directors of Budget & Finance and Revenue Projects on task. Scott also serves as Chairman of the Golf Committee and is a member of the Charles Lea Center Committee. Annual events that Scott enjoys participating in are the 5K Run, the Golf Tournament, the Charles Lea Plant Sale and Special Olympics. We are fortunate to have Scott in our Club and we appreciate his good humor, his big heart, and his dedication to our programs and projects.
